Tim Holtz and I at a Workshop in June 2012

June is always my fav time of the scrapbooking year as i get to visit the Scrapbooking and Papercraft Expo in Brissy – it’s a 3 hour drive each way but worth every minute of it! I get to take a few classes with the experts and see all the new products up close.

This year happened to be extra special as I got to meet Tim Holtz before the show. ‘Stamp It’ brought him out to Australia to demonstrate at the Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne Shows, however on the days before each show he was taking classes for retailers and general fans. I was so lucky and actually got to go to both and he is just the same down to earth person you see on his YouTube videos.

What can I say, I love him and Mario even more, having met them in person – I’m sure they won’t remember me but these 2 days are the highlight of my crafting life. They are both so generous with their time and knowledge, nothing was ever too much trouble – and i’m sure anybody who got to go to his classes would agree. (OMG, I’m gushing and I don’t care)

They both also came into one of the classes I was in at the expo to say hello, and they were the same. On ya boyz – love ya work!

The projects we worked on (finally you say?) were great. The first day we worked on techniques and finished with a wad of tags, with the instructions for the technique on a sticker on the back. He is so organised and easy to follow in class. The second day we completed an off the page project – lots of techniques and a great keepsake of Tim and Mario’s visit. (I keep mention Mario as he does a lots of the behind the scenes stuff, like getting the kits ready to go so we could finish the class in 2 hours)
