Guest Designer – Week 3

Challenge 248

This weeks challenge is called ‘Sweet Serenity’ and is a cool and relaxing palette. I love blue and green together at anytime but these hues are gorgeous. Here are the colors and Inspiration Photos.

And this is my layout. The photo is of my grandfather’s family – his Mum on the left, his Grandma in the middle and his sister in front.

My Inspiration

I used Photo #1 – Focus on Product as my inspiration and used the twine two ways – as stems from the flowers and wrapped around the photo. You can see this in detail in the photo below.

I also took inspiration from Photo #2 with the flowers on the cake and the Focus On Style – Shabby Chic.

I started with white cardstock for this layout – as I often do. I layered old book text roughly adhered with gesso and when it was dry I ripped of  any pieces that were not stuck. This gives a great base for adding panpastels – I used a Sofft sponge applicator with Turquoise Shade, Neutral Gray and Yellowish Ochre on the book text and around the edges of the cardstock. I then painted with a light coat of gesso and started layering the papers, tapes, resist canvas and the alphas. Next I coloured the background with Luminarte, Glimmermist and Maya Road mists. Lastly I added the photo, flowers and twine.
